NIGHT RATING

The night rating allows a pilot to fly in Visual Meteorological Conditions (VMC) and navigate in visual reference to the ground, at night. This is different from Instrument Meteorological Conditions (IMC) where the pilot flies and maintains situational awareness strictly by using instruments and avionics.

PREREQUISITES

  • Must hold a valid Private Pilot License or higher

TRANSPORT CANADA REQUIREMENTS

  • 15 hours minimum total flying time
  • 5 hours dual (with instructor)
  • 5 hours dual (with instructor) instrument flight time
  • 5 hours solo (in the circuit)
